Blackburn Hawks were left to rue "costly decisions" after they had to settle for a share of the spoils against rivals Flintshire Freeze.
Hawks were the better side in a stop-start English National Ice Hockey League encounter, and even held a comfortable four-goal lead at one point.
However, dubious decisions and constant interruptions ensured the Frosties' nicked a point ,much to the annoyance of the Hawks bench.
General manager Graham Lomax reckoned that the game had been ruined by frustrating whistle-blowing.
"It had the potential to be a really great game," said Lomax. "But unfortunately it turn out to be almost farcical.
"The game was never given a chance to get going and both the Flintshire bench and ourselves felt the same way.
"There was a great crowd - I just hope that any newcomers were not put off coming again.
"Nevertheless, it was the first time we have met this season and we got a look at them."
Hawks returned home empty handed from Fife on Saturday despite a brave display against the Scottish giants.
Fife nicked a 1-0 win, but Lomax said: "It was a great performance. We had a very short bench and to come here and concede just once - and a scrappy one at that - is a real credit to the lads.
"Our goalie Dan Brittle was in top form. I can guarantee that Fife will score more than once in every one of their remaining games this season. They are the toughest team we will face this term."
