A trip to Nottingham Forest was always going to be daunting but we, somehow, came away from the City Ground with our unbeaten run intact.
Yes, we were forced to ride our luck a little but – when our credentials were undoubtedly questioned by another side with one eye on promotion – we proved we’ve got staying power.
We’re still top, albeit thanks to our superb goal difference, but if we can get a positive result at Huddersfield next weekend then we’ll have come through what was a very tough month.
Dean Marney once again dropped out of the side due to injury and, although I though David Edgar filled in nicely and turned in a decent performance, it was clear we missed Deano.
When he is in the side he helps push things forward whereas Edgar is much more defensive and doesn’t give David Jones as much freedom to work his magic as perhaps Marney does.
Forest manager Billy Davies didn't seem to agree that it was a penalty but for me that was a spot kick every day of the week.
When a defender slides in with his arms in an unnatural position as Gonzalo Jara’s were then you always risk conceding a penalty.
Sam Vokes dispatched it with effortless cool and we had the lead, admittedly against the run of play a little.
If we could have held on until half time it could have been a different story but conceding when we did gave Forest that little boost going into the break.
The second half we did move the ball a little better and Scott Arfield had two decent efforts.
Boss Sean Dyche again admitted the lads were disappointed to come away with just a point and I see that as a real positive. This set of lads have belief in themselves and each other and I think they genuinely go into each game knowing they can claim all three points.
The trip to Huddersfield is another tough game and I have to say I’m relieved that former Claret Martin Paterson got his first goal for the Terriers at the weekend.
I had visions of him notching his first for his new club against us next Saturday!
