Colne and Nelson U13s 14 North Ribblesdale U13s 22
NORTH Ribblesdale proved too strong for Colne and Nelson All Blacks in another action-packed encounter between the junior rivals.
With defences on top in the opening quarter, Ben Raw was the pick of the crop for Colne and Nelson - but it was North Ribblesdale who drew first blood, scoring the first try of the game three minutes before half-time.
The visitors missed the conversion and Colne and Nelson immediately hit back following a fine passage of play.
Debutant Xander McConville jogged to the line and touched down, before slotting over the conversion as the All Blacks went in 7-5 up at half-time.
McConville continued to impress at prop, but it was the visitors who began to take charge, racking up the points as the North Ribblesdale boys finished in the ascendancy.
However, Colne and Nelson were determined to fight to the finish, and a breakaway try from Dominic Wells and a conversion in front of the posts, again by McConville, capped a superb first start.
North Ribblesdale wrapped the game up with two late tries.
Colne and Nelson want to start a junior girls team. For further info e-mail callumjospehkinnane @hotmail.co.uk or ring Ian Cockcroft, 07590 818341.
