KYLE Lafferty's brace against Sunderland has landed him a place in the Football League's Championship Team of the Week.

The teenager became only the third Clarets player - following Brian Jensen and Michael Duff - to be recognised in the weekly award voted by members of the Press Association.

Teenager Lafferty took his place after grabbing both of Burnley's goals in their 2-2 draw against the Black Cats at Turf Moor on Saturday.

The 19-year-old Northern Ireland international struck early in both halves to give the Clarets a two-goal lead before Sunderland hit back with two late goals.

In the Championship Team of the Week, Lafferty has been selected in attack with Colchester frontman Jamie Cureton, who also netted twice at the weekend.

Goalkeeper Jensen was the first Clarets player to make the awarded XI following a commanding display in the goalless draw against Plymouth back in October.

A week later, centre-back Duff was in the side following the 3-2 Lancashire derby victory over Preston.

Championship Team of the Week: Paul Henderson (Leicester), Sam Ricketts (Hull), Sean St Ledger (Preston), Curtis Davies (West Brom), Gareth Bale (Southampton), Craig Fagan (Hull), Ian Ashbee (Hull), Kevin Watson (Colchester), Danny Pugh (Preston), Jamie Cureton (Colchester), Kyle Lafferty (Burnley).
