BLACKBURN Rovers have saved their best away performances this season for trips to the coast.

The 3-1 win at Bournemouth at the end of September demonstrated just how good Rovers can be going forward when they click.

While the dramatic 2-2 draw at Blackpool two weeks ago was the perfect example of the spirit and resilience running through the side.

And ahead of tomorrow’s clash at Brighton & Hove Albion (3pm) Gary Bowyer is hoping for another seaside special.

The Rovers boss said: “We’re looking forward to Brighton.

“We’ve been to Bournemouth by the sea and Blackpool by the sea and enjoyed our days there.

“Our performances and points tally at the seaside have been quite good so we hope that can continue on Saturday.”

Ninth-placed Rovers are one point above the 12th-placed Seagulls, who are now under the command of former Barcelona midfielder Oscar Garcia.

Bowyer sees plenty of parallels between the teams.

He said: “They are similar to us in the sense that they have a new manager and they have had a big turnover of players. Like us they have also lost a lot of players to injury.

“That’s tough for any new manager going into a club and certainly one that’s coming from a different country.

“But given time I’m sure we’ll see what a good manager he is.”

Both sides are bidding to enter the international break on the back of back-to-back victories.

Bowyer has told his team to use the painful memory of their heartbreaking late loss to Wigan Athletic – which came directly before the last international break – as an inspiration tomorrow.

But should Rovers go down to defeat at the Amex their manager will certainly not be panicking.

Bowyer said: “Obviously people take a massive interest in league tables but in this Championship you can quite easily go from ninth, to 16th and then back up to eighth – it changes so quickly.

“It’s certainly makes it interesting and difficult to predict – and I suppose it adds excitement for the fans of all the clubs in the Championship.

“But I think people have to be sensible a little bit.

“What I mean by that is fans and boards at football clubs up and down the country.

“We’re coming up to a stage of the season where there will be seven games in December, I think, and then another couple of months where there are a number of more games in a short space of time.

“Within a week you could get nine points and go from 16th into the top half.

“So I think people have to be sensible and remember that.”

Bowyer, like his Brighton counterpart Garcia, has had to contend with a lengthy injury list.

But he will be boosted by the return of Leon Best and Grant Hanley tomorrow while he also has the option of including David Dunn and Dickson Etuhu in his matchday squad.

The talismanic Dunn has missed the last nine matches after undergoing two operations on his knee.

And Bowyer is keen to welcome the midfielder back into this matchday squad for the long journey south.

The Rovers boss added: “Dunny is unbelievable.

“His enthusiasm, his passion and his love for the game for the club – no-one will beat that.

“On top of that he brings a wealth of experience and fantastic ability.”

The trip to the Amex Stadium is all ticket with Rovers fans able to buy any remaining tickets from the club up until 4pm today. Rovers are close to selling out their allocation.
