IT was important for Rovers to win against Middlesbrough on Saturday to keep them in touch with the leading pack.
So I was delighted they were able to do that.
It saw them creep up the table and now they’ve just got to continue going about their business quietly.
I was reading a report on Sunday about the game and it said it was a battle between two mid-table sides.
Well I don’t know about that as Rovers are now just four points behind the play-offs with key men to come back.
The table doesn’t look too bad at all.
But I don’t mind if Rovers are going under the radar a little bit, unlike last season when everyone was talking about them going straight back up to the Premier League.
It takes the pressure off them. Let teams like QPR, Nottingham Forest and Leicester have the pressure.
If Rovers can put two, three or four wins together they will be right in the thick of the top six.
That said I think I would take a point from Saturday’s game at Brighton.
The Seagulls have not started fantastically but it is always a difficult place to go.
They play good football and their supporters really get behind their team.
If you can pick up points away from home, like Rovers did against Blackpool, and then win your home games, like they did against Middlesbrough, then you will have a chance.
And although I rate Brighton, I think Rovers are more than capable of going there and getting a draw.
It is good to hear that David Dunn will be fit for the game.
He remains a key man for Rovers. He’s a good player, he’s experienced, he’s got great know how, and he will always give 100 per cent.
He could be the player that Rovers have been missing.
Jordan Rhodes has done brilliantly to score 10 goals and be the Championship’s leading goalscorer.
But I think he will get more once David is back in the team.
