Burnley boss Steve Cotterill was pleased with teenager Chris McCann's solid performance at left-back against Sunderland.
McCann was given the nod at full-back with Jon Harley suspended after picking up five yellow cards.
Cotterill said: "Chris McCann has played at left-back already.
"We've had a couple of behind-closed door games in the last few months when Chris was not in the team.
"He played left-back in those games because that's what we thought we were going to do when Jon Harley was out.
"I thought Chris did well, but it was not one of his better games.
"We are asking two very young lads to do mens' jobs at the moment and they are making the best possible fist of it.
"We are delighted with them."
