NELSON had to settle for a point against fellow strugglers St Helens Town after a stalemate at Victoria Park.
The Blues once again created a series of chances without finding the net.
Dave Gray could have scored in the first half when he robbed a defender but his shot was blocked.
And Wayne Morrison shot straight at the keeper when clean through after 10 minutes.
Nelson had to thank their own keeper, Jim Davies, for some fine saves during the game.
In the second half, Morrison outpaced two defenders but lifted his shot over the bar with just the keeper to beat.
Tom Sumner almost broke the deadlock when his angled shot came back off the far post.
In the closing minutes, Chris Ridehalgh was sent off for a second bookable offence after impeding the keeper.
