Michael Chippendale represented Lancashire Boys and Girls clubs in the Ambitions National finals in Coventry in the Under 16 Boys category - and came out on top as he claimed the glory of the title following a nervy final against a strong Welsh opponent.

The tournament was at held at Rileys Pool and Snooker Centre in Coventry, with eight finalists in the under 16 group gathered from across the UK.

The tournament started in a round-robin format, with a best of three match against all players.

Chippendale won five out of the seven matches which meant he was in the top four going through to the semi-finals where he beat a West Midlands county player 2-1.

With the final being best of five, Chippendale broke and cleared and he also took the second frame.

His opponent then hit back winning the next two frames and taking it to the final frame decider.

That continued the excellent standard with both players giving little away causing the match to go down to the black ball. But Chippendale held his nerve and came through.
