GOLDEN boot Chris Gallagher made sure The Ivy remain out in front in the East Lancashire First Division with a five goal haul in their 7-1 romp over strugglers Colne United.

Kamal Elfetesi and Kierun Birney were also on the mark as the leaders moved two points clear of second placed Burnley Athletic, who were held to a 1-1 draw at Calder Vale.

The Ivy, who were promoted last season, have yet to lose a game in Division One, winning nine and drawing two of their opening 11 matches.

But Athletic, who beat them in the Bob Little Cup final last season, remain hot on their heels despite dropping points.

Enfield ran up the biggest scoreline of the day, winning 7-2 at Rock Rovers.

There was a five-goal thriller between Worsthorne and Mill Hill, with Worsthorne taking the points with a 3-2 victory.

Feniscowles and Pleasington defeated Stacksteads SJ by the same scoreline.

In the Second Division, there was a big shock as leaders Prairie United suffered their first defeat of the season, crashing 4-1 at home to third-placed Whinney Hill.

Barrowford Celtic and Canberra FC shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw while the games between Borrowdale United and Peel Park and Pendle Forest and Waddington were postponed.

Burnley Belvedere cruised to a 4-2 win at Barrowford Celtic in the Reserves Division, while the fixtures between Colne United and Waddington and Oswaldtwistle St Mary's and Feniscowles and Pleasington both ended in 1-1 draws.

The rest of the fixtures fell victim to the weather.
