WITH the Lancashire Cricket Board being current National Lady Taveners Champions at U13 level thanks to Ormskirk School they are looking for Lancashire to retain that title in 2014 and maybe add the U15 title as well!

With an aim to provide quality Indoor Cricket Competitions for U13 and U15 Secondary School Girls during the winter months, the Lancashire Cricket Board invites your school to enter the Lady Taverners Indoor U13 and U15 Girls eight-a-Side competitions The aim of these Indoor Cricket Competitions is to provide girls with an opportunity to play and develop within the game.

Inter Cricket is an inclusive game which bridges the progression from softball to hardball cricket.

For the majority of girls taking part it will be their first chance to play cricket and is a great way to introduce the game.

Local tournaments are held at Wigan’s Robin Park Sports Centre on February 5, 6, 7, 11.

The U13’s County final will be held on Tuesday, March 4, with the U15’s final a week later with both games at Robin Park.

The whole tournament is based on the development of Girls Cricket in Secondary Schools. The ECB and the LCB see this as a high priority and the competition is a great tool to raise the profile of Girls Cricket across the county within schools.

At local and county tournaments, teachers will have the opportunity to meet Jen Laycock (LCB Women and Girls Cricket Development Officer) and in some cases your local Cricket Development Coaches who will be able to offer advice and support to schools on topics ranging from Coaching in Schools, Competitions and other cricket resources.

For any information on the competition contact Laycock on 07713 287989.
