Wayne Ditchfield and Simon Coupe came out on top and claimed their second Floodlit Crown Green Bowls Competition title on the spin at Church Meadow.

The determined pair retained their title after coming out on top in the competition by beating Mike Geraghty and Dave Phillips of Manchester 21-9 in difficult weather conditions on the green at the home of Ribblesdale Wanderers Cricket and Bowling Club.

The organisers want to thank principal sponsor Barbequick for their support over the last 20 years as well as match night sponsors Fagan and Whalley of Padiham, Seaway’s Services of Simonstone, J & R Gases of Nelson and Harlequin Logistics of Cannock.

Meanwhile, the Annual General Meeting of the Great Harwood and District Bowling League will be held on Monday at 7.30pm. Any team not represented at the meeting will be fined in accordance with league rules.

Tickets for the annual presentation Night to be held on Friday, November 15, are now available from the secretary.

Both events will be held at Rishton Conservative Club.

Sabden Bowling Club have announced next year’s dates for their always popular competitions.

The Peter Lambert Open Doubles, which raises money for Pendleside Hospice, takes place on the weekend of May 17 and 18 and any players wishing to register can contact John Robinson on 01282 772751 or Bob Wright on 07713 862870.

The weekend of August 9 and 10 sees the Marjorie Atkinson Open Doubles in aid of Macmillan Care.

Finally the 2014 September Floodlit Singles, which run on Tuesday and Thursday nights building up to the final on September 28, is open for entries.
