Cloudy Too can win an informative renewal of the Colin Parker Memorial Intermediate Chase at Carlisle on Sunday.

Sue Smith’s fine chaser enjoyed a good 2012-13 campaign, with wins at Wetherby, Haydock and here last November.

He then appeared at the Cheltenham Festival rather as an afterthought before running a cracking race in a valuable event back at Haydock.

It is obvious he likes a bit of dig in the ground and he should get that here.

This trip of two miles and five furlongs is also perfect for him on a stiff track like Carlisle.

On that final start at Haydock he was prominent throughout and got mugged close home by the highly-regarded Cedre Bleu, who was in receipt of 10lb.

This will be difficult and, at the weights, he should not be beating Lucinda Russell’s Tap Night.

However, that one’s rating may be inflated on the back of his second in a Grade One at Aintree to Captain Conan. He was subsequently well beaten at Ayr.

It will be great to see Oliver Sherwood’s Many Clouds come good over fences in the bookmakers.co.uk Beginners’ Chase.

Even in his days in bumpers he looked made for bigger obstacles, but he was capable of a decent level of form over timber and it will all have been good experience in the bank.

He beat Paul Nicholls’ talking horse, Just A Par, at Exeter and then finished second in the EBF Final to Close Touch at Sandown.

The ground was too quick for him at Aintree on his last start but this is the game for which he was born.

Jonjo O’Neill should provide Tony McCoy with another winner courtesy of Oscar Fortune, who runs in the Mr & Mrs Handley Ruby Wedding Novices’ Hurdle.

A narrow verdict over former classy Flat racer Beachfire reads well and his previous experience can help him see off the Sherwood-trained Deputy Dan, who makes his hurdling bow.

No Planning, also trained by Smith, shaped very well on his seasonal return at Wetherby behind Grandads Horse in a competitive race and should be all the better for that run in the Cumberland Handicap Chase.

Smad Place faces no easy task in the 32Red Novices’ Chase at Huntingdon but the fact he has been placed in the two World Hurdles should see him prevail.

Lucy Wadham’s Le Reve was a decent hurdler but did not get far on chasing debut and could have come down even earlier.

Alan King’s grey is likely to want for nothing in the schooling department and he should open his account at the first time of asking.

Charlie Longsdon’s Hannibal The Great also has a big future and can defy a penalty in the Michael Quinlan Memorial Novices’ Hurdle.
