BLACKBURN Rovers and Blackpool have been charged by the Football Association for failing to control their players in Saturday's explosive 2-2 derby draw at Bloomfield Road.

A melee, involving every outfield player and unused Rovers substitute Leon Best, broke out after DJ Campbell challenged goalkeeper Matthew Gilks for a loose ball in the Blackpool box.

Rovers sub Campbell and Seasiders defender Jack Robinson were sent off following the melee.

Both clubs have until 6pm on Monday to respond to the charge.

A statement from the FA read: "Both Blackpool and Blackburn Rovers have been charged by the FA for failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.

"It follows an incident which occurred in or around the 85th minute of their fixture on Saturday, October 26, 2013.

"Both clubs have until 6pm on November 4, 2013 to respond to the charge."
