BLACKBURN Rovers booked their spot in the last eight of the Lancashire Senior Cup after a battling 3-2 victory over Rochdale at Brockhall.

Trialist Brendon Daniels scored twice for Rovers in an impressive performance from the wing with the other goal coming from a Tom Marshall penalty.

Dickson Etuhu played the first 60 minutes as he continues his comeback from a knee injury in what was a strong Rovers side.

Daniels put the home side in front after just 12 minutes with a cool left-foot finish.

Joseph Bunney levelled for Rochdale eight minutes before Daniels doubled his and Rovers’ tally four minutes before the break.

Marshall added a third from the spot after just before the hour after Leon Best was felled in the box by Rhys Bennett.

Rovers seemed to have complete control at that point but Rochdale refused to give in and forced a number of late chances.

They did find the net with two minutes remaining when Andy Cannon’s shot deflected off Ryan Edwards and into the net but Rovers held out for the win.

Rovers will now play either Accrington Stanley or Bury in the quarter finals.
