BLACKBURN Rovers boss Gary Bowyer believes the club is now ready to bring the feel-good factor back to Ewood Park.

Bowyer has been on the coaching staff at Ewood since 2009 and is tasked with lifting the side back into the Premier League as well as lifting spirits after a troubled two and a half years under Venky’s ownership.

And he insists battling performances like his side’s 2-2 draw at Blackpool will go a long way to giving the club’s supporters something to be proud of ahead of this week’s home clash with Middlesbrough.

The Rovers boss is also looking at bringing in a striker on loan after revealing there are no plans at this stage to sign Brendon Daniels – who scored twice in a Lancashire Senior Cup win over Rochdale yesterday – on a permanent basis.

Bowyer said: “There is a togetherness in our squad now and that is standing us in good stead. I think the fans can see that there and we have to make sure that stays with us. That is a key thing in this division because it is a very competitive division and the teams at the top have got that togetherness.

“They have also been able to have the consistency in selection that we have been lacking.

“Injuries and suspensions haven’t helped us there and hopefully we can stay clear of that and put together a run of results and also a run of fielding the same players. That is such a key thing in this division.

“That togetherness is something we have been accused of lacking at this club in recent seasons but I think we are starting to see that the spirit is there now.”

Bowyer also admitted he may look to sign a striker on a short-term deal with DJ Campbell set to miss three games following his red card at Bloomfield Road But he doesn’t see forward Daniels, who netted twice from the wing and has been training with Rovers’ developement squad, as the answer.

Bowyer said of Daniels: “He did very well and scoring twice will have been great for his confidence but at this stage he has been training with the development squad rather than looking towards the first team.

“We will continue to monitor him.”

Daniels has been without a club since his release from Crewe Alexandra in the summer.

Of his search for a striker, which has been a long-time target, Bowyer added: “We will see how things go in training but that is an area we are looking to strengthen.

“It is something we will look into short term. We have talked about it before and we will see what we can do but we won’t rush into anything.”
