KIERAN Trippier has warned West Ham United “We’re on a high!” – and the Clarets don’t want to come down.

Burnley take a break from league action tonight after maintaining their place at the Championship summit with a 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

And Trippier believes the Capital One Cup has been key to momentum, with them currently challenging on two fronts.

While a number of Championship rivals came a cropper in the first round after fielding so-called ‘weaker’ teams, Burnley boss Sean Dyche stuck with the side which had opened the season with a 1-1 draw at home to Bolton Wanderers for the trip to York City.

It has proved to be a wise decision, with consistency in selection being matched by consistency in results on their climb to the top of the table.

“Everybody’s on a high with the results that we’ve had and most importantly the team spirit is good and we’re all buzzing at the moment and doing very well in every game,” said Trippier.

“We take it game by game but we go into every game full of confidence. It was the same on Saturday against QPR, which was a massive game and we were just delighted to come away with the victory and most of all the clean sheet.

“There’s no fear of anybody in this league. We’re all on a high and we’re all playing well together.”

Now the Clarets are looking to add Premier League West Ham to their list of cup victims.

“The games come thick and fast and this is going to be another difficult one against a Premier League side,” added Trippier.

“It will be interesting to see what team they put out, but we’ll be going for the win.

“We’ve surprised a few teams this season. The most important thing about our team is our fitness and hopefully everyone can see that.”

Burnley will be forced into a change in personnel themselves through David Jones’ suspension but Trippier is confident in any players who come in to the side.

“You’ve got to give credit to a lot of people on the bench, like Keith Treacy who has come in and done brilliantly this season,” said the right back.

Trippier also hopes the fans can play their part tonight too after registering their biggest home crowd of the season for Saturday’s top of the table clash.

“There was a really good turnout from the fans against QPR and they were loud from the first minute to the end,” he said.

“It was like an extra man on the pitch because they just sung all the way through and were as excited as we were.

“Hopefully there’ll be another big turnout against West Ham and for the rest of the season.”

But while Championship leaders Burnley are out to prove their Premier League credentials against top flight opposition tonight, Trippier insists they are not getting ahead of themselves.

“We don’t get too carried away. We don’t want to look too far ahead into the season,” said the 23-year-old.

“It’s been a great start to the season for us first and foremost.

“We just want to keep putting those points on the board.

“You don’t want to start talking about where you’re going to be at the end of the season. It’s a difficult league to play in and there are a lot of shocks in this league. Anybody can beat anybody.

“We’ve got West Ham next which we were focused on straight away.

“Hopefully we can get the win and set us up nicely for the trip to Millwall.”

Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed he will make changes to his side for the trip to Turf Moor.

He said: “It will definitely be the squad players who step in.”
