THE storms, which battered Britain and caused the abandonment of all three cards on Monday, should relent in time for today’s racing but the ground is likely to be testing for the jumps card at Ffos Las.

In the opener there is one stand out piece of form and that is Copper Birch’s (1.30) second to Cheltenham Festival winner At Fisher’s Cross over 2m here last November. The selection is due to go chasing sooner rather than later but should be good enough to break his maiden over hurdles for Evan Williams.

Williams’ also saddles Get It On visually impressive when scoring at Chepstow last weekend although that might not have been much of a race with Ballinvarig finding little having travelled very well through the race.

Preference is for Royal Riviera (2.30) from the yard of Nigel Twiston-Davies having made a satisfactory chase debut when finishing runner up at Kelso last time from a 2lb lower mark.

The selection has won over hurdles on heavy ground at Ffos Las from a 4lbs lower mark and underfoot conditions will not be a problem.

Champion jockey AP McCoy is likely to be one nearer to his 4000th winner when Taquin Du Seuil (3.30) make his eagerly awaited chase debut over two miles.

The selection is in a different class to his three rivals over hurdles and is reported to have schooled very well ahead of the race.

At Yarmouth there are a couple of interesting newcomers in the opener but they will have to be good to beat the more experienced Istikshaf (1.10) who sets a good standard and will appreciate dropping back in trip having been headed close home in both recent starts over a mile.

Out of a Sadler’s Wells mare the testing ground will suit and he must run well. In the BetVictor New Live Casino Handicap Magique must go close to following up his recent Windsor success from a 3lb lower mark but a chance is taken on Barwick (2.10) whose both career wins have been over today’s C&D including off this same mark last June.

He gave the impression he was coming to hand when 4th again over C&D last time and he is taken to score for Newmarket handler Mark Tomkins.

Palace Princess is interesting on her handicap debut but it is hard to look beyond Firecruise (2.40) who sluiced up over a mile at Pontefract last time in first time blinkers and will be desperately difficult to beat if the headgear works again.

In the stayers’ handicap the interesting one looks like Ticoz (4.10) having his first start for the inform Marco Botti.

A winner in both France and Germany he has been given a mark of 47 for his British debut and he could make a mockery of that mark in a fascinating finale.

The betting should provide clues as to how he has acclimatised to life in Newmarket but the handicapper has a difficult task giving him a mark.
