Myboyalfie has enough about him to go very close in the SIS Handicap at Leicester.

Trained by the underrated John Jenkins, the six-year-old gelding should have conditions loaded in his favour for this one-mile encounter.

The son of Johannesburg has done most of his winning when there is cut in the ground, which is a likely scenario here.

He is also in decent form, having run a fine race at Goodwood a few weeks ago.

Myboyalfie arrived late on the scene in a tight one-mile handicap and only found First Post too good for him that day.

He did, however, only go down by a head, with the third home that day, Ogbourne Downs, some four lengths adrift.

Before that, Jenkins’ inmate had been set some pretty demanding tests in races like the Spring Mile at Doncaster.

This is hardly a run-of-the-mill handicap, but Myboyalfie is just 3lb higher than when he won so convincingly in the Nottingham mud last October.

Kieren Fallon’s appointment is also a good piece of business for a horse who deserves a change of fortune.

Fattsota will have far less on his plate in the Sir Gordon Richards Handicap than when he was last sighted in France.

The durable five-year-old is a good addition to David O’Meara’s team, having continually run with credit in valuable middle-distance handicaps when trained by Marco Botti.

Even so, the decision to run him in the Prix Dollar on Arc weekend was probably a little fanciful as he was never going to beat Cirrus Des Aigles.

That said, he nonetheless ran well enough in sixth place and should relish this distinct drop back in grade.

Fattsota is 1lb higher than when he readily won an Epsom conditions stakes on his debut for O’Meara in August and, crucially, will enjoy himself at Leicester if there is plenty of juice in the ground.

Redcar’s card is not for the faint-hearted, but Verus Delicia stands out as a potential outlet for a winner in division one of the Racing Replay, All Today’s Racing Sky432 Apprentice Handicap.

Trainer John Stimpson will have high hopes for this four-year-old filly after her pleasing course-and-distance display in September.

The daughter of Chineur stayed on stoutly from a difficult position to grab second place, beaten just three-quarters of a length, behind Lees Anthem.

Whether that form amounts to much is a matter of some debate, but Stimpson could hardly have found a better race for Verus Delicia to set the record straight.

Although she holds no secrets from the handicapper, her laudable consistency means punters should almost certainly get a good run for their dough.

Donald McCain thinks quite a bit of Dispour, who should be well up to the task in the Lady Mostyn Memorial Red Cross Juvenile Hurdle at Bangor.

The French import showed guts and a bit of quality when victorious on his hurdling bow here at the start of the month, with McCain keen to get more experience into him before what seems an inevitable rise in class.
