Kyllachy Rise has shown a liking for cut in the ground before so the rain-softened surface at Doncaster for the Racing Post/SIS Betting Shop Manager Handicap should hold no fears.

The three-year-old has seen plenty of action this term and has been highly tried, not least when finishing last in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket in the spring for the late Sir Henry Cecil.

Switched to Richard Hannon before York in May, he was pitched into the ultra-competitive Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot but finished well down the field after fading late on.

Champion trainer-elect Hannon then dropped him back in trip again to seven furlongs, a distance he had won at earlier in the year, and that proved a wise move as he finally got on the scoresheet again at Chepstow last month.

That came on heavy ground and while desperate conditions are not essential, he clearly prefers some give.

Not beaten far on her only juvenile start, Fragonard was then off the track for nearly two years before reappearing with a fair fifth at Kempton in June.

Judged on that performance, it should only be a matter of time before Fragonard breaks her duck for the Lady Cecil team.
