Robbie Savage has urged Blackburn Rovers fans to get off his team-mate Lucas Neill's back.
The Aussie defender was booed by a small minority of fans during the games against Newcastle and Nancy - a backlash against the player's decision to reject a new contract.
Savage, however, fears such a reaction could have a negative effect on the team.
"Lucas has been a great servant to this football club.
"The modern day footballer has every right to keep his options open.
"The club bought him for £1 million and he has been a great servant.
"While he is still a Blackburn player - whether that be for one month or six months - the fans should get right behind them.
"The lads obviously want him to stay. He is a great character and a leader.
"But whatever he decides to do is his choice."
