Steve Nutt kicked the conversion but a second try for Lawson again off a catch and drive gave Burnage a 7-15 lead at the interval.
A penalty from Winney increased the advantage but with the Lancastrians at last beginning to enjoy more of the ball, a try from Nutt off a break by Jamie Albinson converted by the full back reduced the deficit with a try from Danny Collins rampaging through from five metres out also converted by Nutt giving Rossendale the lead for the first time.
Now in control further tries from Jamie Albinson, off an audacious dummy again converted by Nutt and Danny Harrison straight from the restart supporting a 60 metre dash by Anthony Bingham sealed the win.
