THE first ever Autosolo event to be held in Lancashire was won by Stephen Brown, with 385 points in his Nissan Micra.

The competition, which drew 22 entries in total, was organised by Accrington Motorsport Club and CSMA (NW) MSG.

Taking place in the Blackburn with Darwen services off Junction 4 of the M65, drivers, young and old, male and female, were put through their paces.

On a points-scoring-basis they had to manoevre their way past cones and markers in a slalom-like race.

It consisted of forward times on the hard surface and cars that took part ranged from 1000cc to 3500.

Heather Johnson, who helped organise the event and competed, said: "It went really well. This is the first time this has been held in Lancashire.

"Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves."

The event, which has proved to be a big hit in America, was aimed at young drivers and motorsport enthusiasts and gave them the opportunity to improve their driving, based on accuracy and smootheness rather than outright speed.
