ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman has set his players a target of 30 points by the turn of the year.

Coleman, whose side sit in 19th place in League Two with 21 points, is targeting three more wins before the New Year in a bid to make his side more secure in the division.

But he believes it will also make Stanley a more attractive place to come for potential new signings when the January transfer window opens.

He said: "I'd like to be past the 30-point barrier come January.

"I think if we can do that then it will give the lads a lot of confidence and make it a bit more appealing for players to come to us.

"There's going to be a big scramble in January.

"It won't just be us who are looking for players and we have to be sure we don't panic and on a knee-jerk reaction just sign someone for the sake of signing someone.

"Anyone who knows me, knows I don't do that. I'm not going to sign players who aren't better then what we've got.

"We've got four or five games up until January and if we can get past the 30-point mark I think that would settle us down a bit.

"Our squad is going to be tested because we can't bring anyone in at the moment.

"And you get to the point where you're scared to do a lot of things in training just in case someone goes down injured.

"Hopefully, we'll be able to keep everybody fit and have a strong enough squad to compete in the games coming up to January."
