BURNLEY schoolboy Oliver Norwood takes to football's international stage tonight aiming to beat the Auld Enemy.

Norwood, a pupil at St Theodore's Catholic Sports College, is among England's U16 squad that tackles Scotland in the Victory Shield decider.

The young Lions are second in the four-nations tournament, two points behind leaders Scotland, and know only a win at York City's KitKat Crescent will see them realise their ambition of retaining the shield.

Midfielder Norwood, on Manchester United's books, will be hoping to play his part in England U16 head coach Kenny Swain's team.

The creative 15-year-old can play in a number of positions across the midfield and is always a threat in the last third of the pitch.

Norwood has already picked up an England U16 cap, having played in October's 1-1 Victory Shield draw at Wales.

Swain is relishing the clash which pits England against familiar foe - a match sure to be full of tension.

"If it was a tiddlewinks match, then you still could not avoid the edge," said Swain. "The fact that the Victory Shield is so well balanced just adds to it."

The match kicks-off at 8.05pm tonight and is televised live on Sky Sports.
