Blackburn Rovers have played down reports linking them with a move for Manchester United defender Phil Bardsley.
Several media sources claimed Rovers were planning a January swoop for the right-back, who spent some time on loan at Burnley last season.
However, a move for Liverpool's Stephen Warnock is more likely in the window if, as expected, Lucas Neill leaves for Anfield.
Hughes is also monitoring David Dunn's situation at Birmingham with interest, but a deal to bring him back to Ewood will only be done at the right price.
