BURNLEY manager Sean Dyche says he has not yet been given an indication of how much he will have to spend to replace Charlie Austin.

The Clarets were thought to have received £2.25million for their top scorer from QPR last week, but that figure is now said to be £3m.

However, it is at least £1.5m less than the figure agreed with Hull City before the striker's Premier League move collapsed after a failed medical last month.

But, ahead of tonight’s Capital One Cup game at York, Dyche was not clear how that deficit would impact on his transfer kitty going forward.

“It’s an ongoing thing where the club has to balance the books. There are certain areas where there are deficits that have to be looked after for the future of the club,” said the Clarets boss. “Then we look at where we can shop and what we can get in. We’re looking at that the best we can.

“It’s not as easy as just going out and getting someone.

“We all thought that Charlie was probably going to go for whatever figure, and then we were all put on the back foot – in a good way – when he didn’t go to Hull.”
