St Augustine’s RC High School ended the academic year on a high after they were crowned Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Athletics Championships.

Held at Wilsons Playing Fields in Clayton-le-Moors, the Saints boys team completed a double after they were overall winners in both the track and field events.

The girls narrowly missed out on the track title – finishing in second place – but went on to win in the field events.

And when the points were totted up, it was St Augustine’s who were crowned Hyndburn and Ribble Valley athletics champions for the second year in succession.

It capped a memorable year for the Billington school who have had a lot of success in a wide range of sports.

The year seven boys football team were the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley schools league and cup winners.

They were also Lancashire schools 5-a-side champions and Lancashire schools 7-a-side runners-up The year eigth team won the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley schools cup.

But the success was not just contained to football as the super Saints showed off their all-round ability in gymnastics, athletics and cricket.

The school dominated the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Schools Gymnastics Championship, with the A team crowned champions while the B team were runners-up.

The schools year seven indoor athletics team enjoyed a clean sweep of titles, winning the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley crown and were also Lancashire and North West schools champions.

The girls year 7/8 girls tag rugby team were North West schools regional champions while the same age groups were runners-up in the Hyndburn/RV cricket runners-up.

And there was also success in rounders with St Augustines winning both the year eight and year nine HRV titles.
