FAROUK Hussain described winning a cricket ‘OSCA’ as the greatest of honours.
The Clitheroe Cobras chairman was presented with a special recognition award at the Lancashire Cricket Board OSCAS – Outstanding Service to Cricket Awards.
More than 800 guests gathered at The Point at Old Trafford to see the unsung heroes of the game honoured for the services to cricket.
Farouk, who established the Cobras exactly a decade ago, has been at the forefront of a range of innovative cricketing experiences for children aged 4-18. As well as countless on-field successes for the Cobras junior teams under his tenure – including a County title for the U13 team this season – he has also been the driving force behind countless visits to International fixtures, family cricket festivals and cricket tours to York and Dubai.
Girls cricket has been one of his greatest achievements with the Cobras entering girls-only teams at U11s and U13s age groups in the Lancashire League for the last 3 seasons.
He said: “I am honoured to be receiving this award and would like to express my thanks to those who recommended me for this honour.
“I am very fortunate to have a fantastic team of coaches and helpers who have supported me over the last 10 years.
“Without these unsung heroes, the Cobras would not be the huge force in local and county cricket that it is today.”
