THE runs flowed as Baxenden U18s and Edenfield piled up 419 between them in a stunning Birchall Twenty20 clash.
Both sides were on song with the bat and Edenfield could barely believe their misfortune as Bash chased down a score of 210 with just three balls of their 20 overs remaing on a night that saw two centuries.
It was a belting game and highlighted the strength in depth of the Ribblesdale League as the pair put on one of the shows of the season.
Edenfield thought they were home and hosed when they posted 209-3 from their 20 overs with Fraser Phillips the star of the show. He teed off on the shortened boundaries and made 131 not out, while Andy Parkins made 51 out of a big score.
Thety had every reason to believe that would be more than enough - but Bash served up a real treat in reply and Richard Staines was the star of the show.
Staines was sensational as he smashed an outstanding 114 as Baxenden roared to a magnificent six-wicket victory - and his brilliant innings earned him a call-up to the Baxenden first team for Saturday’s Senior League win over Padiham.
League champions Cherry Tree took their form into the Twenty20 and they saw off local rivals Feniscowles at Preston Old Road. Saj Akhtar led the way as Cherry batted first and he made 48 from 40 balls with six fours and two sixes, while fellow opener Jake Willacy made 41 and Kelan Florentine smashed three sixes on his way to 36.
Their combined efforts helped Cherry up to 151-5 from their 20 overs, although it would have been worse had it not been for the bowling efforts of Edward Rushworth, who claimed 2-14 from three overs to stem the scoring.
Benjamin Fleming fell cheaply as Feniscowles replied but Robert Smith made 31 and skipper Jack Ellison led from the front as he made 45 to try and steer his side over the line.
But Feni struggled as Cherry skipper Ryan Hurley used nine bowlers and they closed their innings on 133-5.
Salesbury are on top of Group Four and they claimed another win thanks to a 30-run success over Read at Whalley Road, while Clitheroe beat Barnoldswick in Group One.
