GEETH Alwis smashed a sensational 145 not out as Todmorden piled up the runs as they upset title chasers Haslingden yesterday.

The classy Sri Lankan, who was dropped on 48 by Phil Hayes, helped Todmorden pile on the runs at Centre Vale and they posted a daunting 265-4 from their 50 overs.

Haslingden professional Brenton Parchment needed to score big but he fell for 28 and while Lee Ingham hit 38 Freddie Priestley’s four wickets saw Todmorden to a win.

Accrington continued their march towards the title as they hammered Nelson by nine wickets at Thorneyholme Road.

Nelson never recovered from being reduced to 11-3 and were bowled out for just 118 - and that score was largely down to Russ Bradley, who made 45.

Ashar Zaidi, who claimed four wickets, then hit 48 not out and Graeme Sneddon made an unbeaten 35 as the leaders romped home.

Lloyd Aspin hit 66 not out after claiming five wickets to lead Church to a seventh win on the spin.

They were too strong for East Lancashire and after bowling the Blackburn side out for 168 coasted to an easy success.

Francois Haasbroek and Paddy Martin both claimed four wickets as reigning champions Lowerhouse recovered from Saturday’s loss to Haslingden with an impressive win over Rawtenstall.

Jonny Whitehead’s 85 was the top score as the House were all out for 142 but the bowlers then stepped up to the plate to seal a terrific win with Rawtenstall 83 all out.

Pieter Malan hit 82 not out and Tom Parton made 46 as Ramsbottom chased down Colne’s 172 all out with more than 14 overs to spare at Acre Bottom.

Dan Salpietro made 90 and Rick Rostron 66 not out as Rishton stunned Enfield with an eight-wicket win.

And Dan Pickup made a fine 82 as Burnley chased down Bacup’s 250. That was harsh on home pro Aubrey Swanepoel, who had made 102.
