PADIHAM professional Chris Holt wants his men to take every game as it comes as they look towards a battle for Houldsworth Solicitors Ribblesdale League survival.
In the first year after relegation from the Senior League, Padiham are deep in trouble and sit at the foot of the table, 29 points from safety.
They have 11 games to go starting at Baxenden tomorrow and Holt is determined to lead them out of trouble.
“We don’t want to be down there, no-one wants to be down there,” said Holt.
“But we need to focus on what we are doing and take each game individually to try and get on a run.
“We are capable of doing that but we need to start soon.”
Padiham are in the league’s Watson Ramsbottom Solicitors Twenty20 finals day on Sunday but the trip to Back Lane comes first and they have recalled veteran Peter Shirtcliffe and Chris Swift also plays.
New boys Euxton are second from bottom despite the best efforts of overseas amateur Ulricht van Duyker and they face Salesbury in a big game at Balshaw Park, while the other side in immediate danger is Cherry Tree.
They are third from bottom and face stuttering Read at Preston Old Road as they look for a crucial win as well as revenge on Kyle O’Connor’s men.
Earlier in the season Cherry were hammered at Whalley Road after Read piled up 300 after being put in.
At the other end of the table Clitheroe are still at the top despite last weekend’s loss to Settle and they bid to get back to winning ways when they host Whalley in an always competitive clash, while Barnoldswick have a professional problem for their game at Oswaldtwistle.
They had hoped to use Mohammed Rehan as sub for Imran Khalid, who is playing in a T20 in Pakistan but there is doubt about whether he can now play.
Reigning champions Barlick have shot up into second place on the back of their good run.
