Steve Cotterill hailed teenager Kyle Lafferty's performance on Saturday after his stunning 87th minute left-foot strike from 20 yards looked to have handed Burnley all three points at Ipswich Town.
The Clarets were denied by a controversial injury-time penalty, converted by former Burnley striker Alan Lee after Gifton Noel-Williams was penalised for handball.
But Cotterill praised Lafferty's performance in attack alongside Noel-Williams and is hoping for more of the same.
He said: "It was a fantastic goal. He has waited a while and what a great strike from the young man - with his bad foot!
"We just have to make sure that we nurse him through this period.
"He is definitely not Andy Gray's replacement because he is a different player.
"We musn't judge him as that, but his strike was excellent and his partnership with Noel-Williams was a good part of our play, along with the central midfielders.
"I thought the two strikers played very well in the absence of Andy Gray and more of that will be needed from them.
"They worked extremely hard on an energy-sapping pitch."
