BEN Heap admitted it was a great feeling as he blasted Lowerhouse to the Moorhouse’s Lancashire League Twenty20 title – and said he was pleased to fire shot at his critics.
The opening batsman admits he has not been at his very best this term but his glorious 79 from just 35 balls helped Lowerhouse to a big total before the bowlers ripped through reigning champions Ramsbottom.
His efforts earned him the man of the match award, a second such honour in major finals after he won the prize in last year’s Worsley Cup final and he was thrilled, especially as he silenced the doubters.
“We love winning things, there’s no better feeling,” grinned Heap after his match-winning knock.
“And for me it is great to get the runs. It hasn’t been the best season so far for me and people really do like to kick you when you are down.
“So I hope those people who have had a bit to say in the last few weeks saw what happened and took note.”
