Burnley and Pendle were tested on Saturday but they proved they were more than equal to the task.
With a mounting injury list, the Reds were forced to shuffle the team and give debuts to a number of newcomers.
It was to their credit that they stepped up to the task and put on a display that showed the strength in depth that is available.
The locals started strongly with an early try by centre Richard Murray. Will Farnworth then scored under the posts.
The front rowers, with youngster James Henderson and veteran Howard Metcalf taking the game to Blackpool up the middle, the visitors were penalised for slowing the ball down in the tackle. The penalty was taken quickly and with Blackpool on the back foot, Steve Kent found himself in space to score on his debut.
Craig Wiseman then went over for a four try to make it 24-0.
There was no let up for the Sea Eagles, as the interchange bench was utilised to bring on powerful forwards, Adam Healy, Jammal Isghar and Eddie Blake.
Marcus Farnworth went over for a fifth try before a break by the impressive Jammal Isghar, saw another try being scored to end the half, 34- 0.
The second half started in the same vein as the first. With Eddie Blake, having his best game yet for the Reds, being rewarded with his first try for the club. Once again, to their credit, Blackpool hit back strongly applying pressure to the Burnley and Pendle try line. This pressure was once again repelled by excellent defence by the home team. Young half back, Will Holden, was complementing his attacking game with an impressive display in defence, time again putting his body on the line to stifle the visitors’ attack.
With game now appearing to be in the bag, Burnley and Pendle didn't let up and continued to turn the screw. Some good footwork by the 17 year old winger, Celyn Lennard, saw him beat a number of defenders near the touch line to find the supporting Will Farnworth who raced away to score under the posts.
Further tries by Ed Holden and Marcus Farnworth extended the lead to 58 v 0.
Blackpool Sea Eagles can be applauded for their efforts in very difficult conditions and they were rewarded with a well deserved try to make the final score, 58 v 4.
Once again this game was played in a good nature that reflects well on both clubs. Burnley and Pendle can be pleased that even with a number of absentees in key positions, the squad we have was able to cope.
The next fixture at The Prairie is on Saturday against a strong Cadishead Rhinos team.
Kick off is at 2.30pm. For further information on the club contact Bob Lennard on 07772 600729
