IT was a return to league action in the Clitheroe Midweek Cricket League following a five week break for the cup competition – and both games were played on balmy summer evenings.
And it is Sabden who are leading with way after opening up a handy four point gap at the top.
They entertained Low Moor who made 112 all out in 19 overs with Graham Kershaw top scoring with 30 retired.
Simon Jones continued his good bowling form picked up three wickets and young Josh McCullough bowled steadily to take 2 for 12.
In reply, Sabden lost a couple of early wickets but Paul McKenna with 27 and John Hargreaves with 33 retired swung the game Sabden's way and victory was achieved with just 3 wickets down and 4 overs remaining.
In the other game it was a warm up for the cup final.
Calderstones batted first and racked up 105 , Dylan Kiss again in the runs makinh 30 retured.
Dean and Robinson got a couple of wickets apiece for St James’s.
After a good start from Rain and Dean, St James lost their way in the middle of the innings due to some tight bowling before Richard Blackburn made it close with some powerful late hitting. Saints needed a six off the last ball to tie and got none. Dean and Blackburn both retired on 30.
