TWO members of Burnley Bobcats were on medal winning form when the represented Great Britain Catholic Students at the FISEC Games in Hungary.
Kerry Holding won three silver medals while Emma Fothergill picked up a bronze as they did the club proud on international duty.
Kerry was also named as girls team captain for the GB swim team.
Opening the swimming programme in the first event of the day, the 50m Freestyle heats, Kerry posted a long course pb of 28.34 seconds to secure a place in the afternoon final with the second fastest time.
Emma Fothergill, 15, was in the 100m backstroke heats and again she qualified for the final, with the second fastest time of 1.12.00.
The last event of the morning session was the 200m freestyle final and Kerry secured GB’s first medal with a silver in a time of 2mins 11.61.secs.
The afternoon finals session kicked off this time with Emma in the 100m backstroke, who followed up her heat swim with another good time of 1min 12.12 secs securing her a bronze medal.
Kerry quickly followed in the 50m freestyle final with another silver medal in a time of 28.54secs and both girls swam in the 4 x 100m Freestyle relay, being placed in 4th position.
Day two saw Kerry in the 50m butterfly heats, where she stormed to another long course PB of 30.66secs securing her an afternoon place in the final with the second fastest time. The pair were both in action in the 100m freestyle heats and both qualified for the final.
In the afternoon finals session, Emma was first up in the 200m backstroke, finishing fourth before Kerry followed in the 100m freestyle final and secured her third silver of the event in a time of 1min 01.47secs And just five minutes later, she was back in the pool, this time finishing in fourth place in the 50m butterfly Day three was the team events, which both Kerry and Emma competed in and they finished off the event with some great team swims. “It was an honour to represent the GB Catholic Schools and a fantastic experience,” said Kerry.
