ACCRINGTON Stanley will only receive half of the transfer fee should midfielder Ian Craney join Swansea City in January.
It is understood Stanley have agreed a £150,000 fee with the Welsh club for the player, but should a deal go through, 50 per cent would go to his former club Altrincham.
The clause was agreed when 24-year-old Craney made the move from Moss Lane back in the summer of 2004.
Stanley chief executive Rob Heys said: "Unfortunately when Ian signed everyone knew he was a good player, Altrincham knew they had a good player as well and so the transfer fee was negotiated with a 50 per cent sell on clause."
Craney made his debut as a substitute in Swansea's goalless derby draw with Bristol City on Sunday.
Although it was a fleeting appearance, manager Kenny Jackett was convinced he had all the attributes to make him a star at the Liberty Stadium.
He said: "He has sharpness and mobility and when he gets the ball he can play.
"He played it quite safe but I understand that. He doesn't know the players that well yet. When he does he'll show that he can play-off the front players and get a shot or two away."
