ST BEDE’S are celebrating another successful year proving yet again they are the real all-rounders.
The Blackburn school triumphed in a wide range of sports – the most recent coming in volleyball.
Over the course of the school year, the super Saints have shone both individually and collectively in sports ranging from swimming to table tennis and badminton to cross country.
The school has always had a proud tradition of producing talented table tennis players under the guidance of Dave Pilkington – and this year has been no exception.
The school produced town and county winners while the boys team of George, Greg Simms, Callum Newton and Adam Higginson guided the Saints to success in the Telegraph Cup.
Pupil Harrison Wallsworth won the Blackburn and Darwen Table Tennis League handicap singles title while the girls U13s team of Jess Kitt, Maddie Elliott, Ellie Brindle and Brenna McPartlan were crowned borough champions.
Away from table tennis, Harry Starkie and Mitchell Boyle were crowned town badminton doubles champions.
Maddie Elliott showed off her all-round ability by winning the Blackburn and Darwen Cross Country Championship and helping St Bede’s to the team title. Grace Orrell (Yr 9 100m IM, 25M Fly ), Brenna McPartlan (Yr 8 25m Fly) and Rosie Grebbie (Yr 8 25m freestyle) also enjoyed town swimming success with Rosie and Grace joined by Lucy Turner and Lizzie Ashcroft to win the freestyle relay.
And most recently, St Bede’s boys and girls U13s teams won the North of England Volleyball Championships in Manchester.
