Veteran Andrew Davidson rolled back the years as Settle lifted themselves out of a nine-match streak without a win as they beat Brooksbottom.
Davidson, still one of the most accurate bowlers in the Houldsworth Solicitors Ribblesdale League, claimed 5-48 and speed star Eddy Read bagged four wickets as the Dalesmen pushed themselves back to the brink of the Lancashire Cup spots with their excellent success at The Brox.
But it was more than the bowlers who shone as the batsmen also came to the party with Aneeq Hassan top scoring with 48, while Robbie Davidson (37), Will Davidson (36) and Laurence Read (31) also contributed well as they posted 227-9 from 43 overs in Summerseat.
Zohain Qureshi top scored with 48 for Brooksbottom and Ben Richardson was 34 not out but the day belonged to Davidson senior as he bagged himself another bowling collection.
Read’s title hopes took another big hit as they were beaten by Edenfield at Gincroft Lane.
Warren Eastham top scored with 40 as Read were restricted to 136-9 as pace ace Liam Bones and Andrew Rushton both claimed four wickets.
Edenfield then adapted to the track better than their visitors and got home with two wickets in hand.
Leaders Clitheroe couldn’t press home their advantage as the rain put a stop to their game with Baxenden at Chatburn Road.
Peter Dibb hit a six clean over the pavilion as he helped Clitheroe up to 176-6 from 41 overs and Baxenden were going along okay when the rain came down and wiped the game out with them on 40-1.
Oliver Jones made 65 and Oliver Clare hit 57 as Oswaldtwistle Immanuel kept up their fine league form with an impressive win over Great Harwood at New Lane.
The opening pair helped Immanuel up to 171-6 from 29 overs with Paul Clifford the main man with the ball as he claimed 4-33.
Harwood had to chase 144 after rain and they made a great attempt with Russell Whalley setting the tone with a rapid 32 at the top of the order.
Skipper Paul Houldsworth added a quick 20 but it was Patrick Swanney who looked as though he would take Harwood home.
He hit a 44-ball 50 not out but his men were just four runs short when their 25 overs ran out.
Andreas Sudnik claimed three of the seven wickets to fall but his eight overs went for 61, while Neil Weaver claimed 2-50 from six.
Ribblesdale Wanderers made light work of Whalley at Church Meadow. They bowled Whalley out for 65 and then got home by seven wickets before the rain came.
Salesbury ended the revival of Padiham as they chased a revised 160 at The Arbories.
However, the games between Earby and Euxton and Cherry Tree and Barnoldswick were abandoned as no results.
Barnoldswick were chasing 142 at Cherry Tree when play was finally called off, while Earby never got the chance to begin their reply at The Applegarth after they had earlier restricted the visiting Euxton to 151-6 from 30 soggy overs.
