BLACKBURN Rovers, Burnley and Accrington Stanley will play in special anniversary fixtures on the opening weekend of the new season.
Six fixtures across the Championship, League One and League Two have been announced to celebrate the Football League’s 125th anniversary.
Rovers will travel to Derby and Burnley will host Bolton on the opening weekend of the season, with all four sides founder members of the Football League.
In League Two Accrington will travel to Newport County. The Football League season starts on the weekend of August 3 and 4.
Burnley hosted Bolton on the opening day last season which saw Owen Coyle return to Turf Moor. The Clarets won 2-0.
Burnley’s Turf Moor ground is one of only three still in use that hosted matches during the first Football League season in 1888-89.
Both Burnley and Rovers were both founder members of the league while Accrington originally had a side in that inaugural season before folding. Accrington Stanley joined the Football League in 1921.
