EUXTON pulled off the biggest upset of the Houldsworth Solicitors Ribblesdale League season to date as they rocked Whalley on Saturday to record their first win in the competition.
Nick Dunn hit 50 for the new boys and skipper Mark Winrow made 49 as they got up to 187-7 at Station Road despite four wickets for Simon Gorton.
And then they turned on the style to bowl Whalley out for just 114 with Winrow and James Proctor each claiming three wickets as they celebrated a landmark success.
Fellow new boys Brooksbottom also put up a good show – but were unable to stun leaders Baxenden at Back Lane.
New Bash pro Asif Iqbal – a late replacement for Ather Abid – led the way with 123 as his side racked up 236-5 – but despite gritty show from the Brox with Paul Hopton hitting 59 and Ash Gowers making 48 not out they closed on 217-7.
Clitheroe flexed their muscles to crush Cherry Tree before 3.30pm.
Jack Dewhurst claimed 5-11 as Tree were skittled for just 45 in 17.2 overs – and then it took Clitheroe just 45 balls to knock the runs off.
Aussie Lewis Mildenhall claimed four wickets as Oswaldtwistle Immanuel beat Earby by 47 runs at New Lane after Oliver Clare had top scored with 44 for the home side.
Chris Walton made a half-century to add to his four wickets for Earby – but Mildenhall reeled in 4-28.
Liam Bones claimed seven wickets as Edenfield won for the third time this season.
Bones helped bowl Padiham out for just 81 – but they had a few scary moments before getting home with three wickets to spare.
Joe Marshall made 93 not out and Elliot Artingstoll was unbeaten on 52 as Read beat Ribblesdale Wanderers by nine wickets and Tiaan Cloete hit 85 and Russ Whalley 44 as Great Harwood posted 185 all out at Salesbury.
That was 55 too many for the home side, especially with Stuart Maher claiming five wickets.
Barnoldswick were beaten at Settle in the day’s other game as they were bowled out for just 83 before the Dalesmen canteted to a 10-wicket win.
