ROSSENDALE U13s ended the season on a high with a perfect revenge mission to Ashton.
Dale returned to the scene of last season’s heavy defeat but came away with a big win of their own – with Rhys Tighe scoring five of Rossendale’s eight tries.
Ashton started strongly, but Dale’s defence held firm and soon after scoring their opening try – Sam Irving offloading to Mark Rutherford-Shaw who ran in his first try from Dale’s own half.
PJ Butler added the conversion.
Tighe then went over for his first try following a quick tap and go before smashing through the Ashton defence for his second.
Butler added the extra and did likewise from the fourth try with Rutherford-Shaw dapping down for the second time.
Victory was all put secured just before the break when Keir McDonald broke through the defence to score and Butler conversion made it 35-0 at the break.
Tighe bagged his third early in the second half before Ashton replied with two quick scores of their own.
But Dale, and Tighe, had the last word with two late tries.
