In a fiery contest Burnley just came up short against team who were comprehensive winners last time they met.
Burnley showed how far they have come and for a few different decisions would have taken the points from this game. Burnley knew they were in for a battle but some good play up front by Dave Lord, Danny Marshall and Matt Calvert saw the ball fed out kickly to captain Nino Angelone who popped the ball to Ben Healy who crossed for a try converted by Steve Kent.
De La Salle then came back into the game and after missing a penalty but were then awarded a controversial try.
The kick was missed by a penalty saw De la Salle lead 8-7 at the break.
Into the second half and Burnley were trying constantly to take the lead through strong runs by Ryan Bradley and the returning Ed Taylor but De la Salle scored a well worked try to lead by eight. With the home team pressing on the De La Salle line a shocking head tackle by a visiting defender somehow resulted in a De penalty.
Burnley then got a scrum but the final whistle was blown eight minutes early – meaning the home side missed out on the opportunity of trying to force a win or a losing point.
