THEY have had to wait nearly three months but Blackburn have finally recorded their first win of 2013.
Much of the first half had been a grind for Burn as progress was regularly halted due to too many penalties being conceded, however a try late in the half and an early try in the second half gave them some much needed breathing space and eventually eased to a morale-boosting win.
The opening try came in the 37th minute when winger Josh Oldlands joined the line, broke in to the 22 before passing on to Zac Child – he drew a man before shipping it on to Theo Coleman who brushed past the final defender to score. The conversion by Nick Smith was missed.
The home side started the second half as they finished the first with a try and again it was Coleman who touched down after fine work by Sam Morgan, Smith Damo Miller and Child.
Smith slotted over the extras to make it 12-0.
Moor came back strongly but Blackburn’s defence stood firm before Smith missed a penalty chance to extend Blackburn’s lead.
But a third try did arrive when Coleman and Jack Campbell combined to release Anton Garcia who evaded two defenders to score and Smith converted.
