Blackburn secured a bonus point victory as they beat Egremont 20-11 in Cumbria.

It was not Burn’s most fluid performance of the North Lancashire and Cumbria league season, however they stuck to their task and despite some frustrations managed to score four tries and keep a determined Egremont at bay.

Burn had led 15-0 at half time and while Egremont scoring the first points of the second half, the away side’s fourth try eased any fears of a repeat of last season’s comeback.

Burn’s opener came after a spell of home pressure and from a turnover Sean Hall broke out of Burn’s 22, he fed onto Leon Fifield. He burst down the field and while a pass inside went to ground, it was picked up by Richard Maudsley who in turn found Theo Coleman who darted into the corner.

Tries for Burn on 33 minutes and a further one just before half time from Rob Parker and Zac Child increased the lead at the break and while a couple of Egremont penalties gave them hope of a comeback.

But Child raced onto a clever Sean Hall dink over the ruck and dived in and while Egremont crossed the line themselves, the locals held on to claim their 20-11 win and ahappy journey home.

Burn will hope to make it three wins in a row as they take on Keswick at Ramsgreave Drive on Saturday.
