Lane closures were in place on the M6 southbound after an accident this lunchtime
Two lanes on the M6 southbound between junction 33 Lancaster and junction 32 Blackpool were closed after a crash shortly before midday.
About five miles of congestion causing an hour of delays built up as the crash was cleared.
After around 10 minutes, the lanes were able to be reopened and traffic began to clear, but motorists were warned of delays of up to an hour as the backlog of vehicles got moving again.
