As someone who hates to throw anything away I am constantly on the look-out for more unnecessary stuff I can bring home and put on the shelf.

Understandably this kind of drives my wife crazy. She loves to throw things away whilst I will find reasons why I still need an inflatable bath.

The strange thing this rule does not apply to her wardrobe full of shoes and outfits? This week I decided to have a clear out after finding I was quickly running of cupboard space in my tiny home.

When I moved into the house I had more space than I actually needed. So much so at times I would wander in and out of empty rooms in case the floorboards got lonely.

But now I have no space anywhere. There are storerooms full of boxes and things I thought I couldn’t do without.

I bought a vacuum cleaner from a shopping channel once because it could pick-up nails. It broke after two weeks… some nails got stuck in it.

Most of the other stuff was on offer or caught my eye at a pound shop.

You can’t go wrong for a pound I was told once… yes you can! How on earth did it come to this?

The answer is about two and half foot high. In fact there are two of them and seven years after the first one made an entrance this house is full.

What they don’t tell you at that maternity class is that you will end-up buying rubbish and this stuff will soon be in every nook and cranny in your house.

You will want to throw it away but once you do it will soon be replaced by more unwanted rubbish.

Slowly, like some warped game show the walls close in and before you know it you will only be able to walk within a two foot space.

The funny thing is I don’t even buy the kids that much. In fact I don’t even like shopping. I hate it. So, where did all my space go?
