PREPARING for exams can be a stressful time for school children.
So offering them incentives to help keep them motivated and do well in certain subjects is not a bad thing.
Teachers at two schools in Rossendale are offering their students such rewards.
Year 11 pupils at All Saints Catholic High School are being given taster driving lessons for their good behaviour.
And children at Fearns Community Sports College are being offered shopping vouchers to attend GCSE revision sessions as part of a points scheme.
Children are under lots of pressure to score top marks so they can go on to further education and get the job they want.
So offering them a little prize to succeed can often produce results, especially for those who are struggling or from poorer backgrounds.
Critics will argue that the rewards systems are getting out of hand.
They will say that pupils should receive praise and recognition when they deserve it.
But anything which helps children achieve better results must be embraced.
