I dropped into Westholme School’s open day.
I have lived near the school for more than 20 years and never been inside.
But my articulate, young tour guides, Rachel and Celia, showed me a bright, airy, cheerful school, so different from those of my youth.
What they had, which I thought was an excellent idea and one that I hope other schools could introduce, was a class for ‘extra’ learning.
Because, no matter how clever you are, there are often bits you’ve missed or not quite grasped, and it’s in this class you can ‘catch up.’
